Getting started
Create an address on the signup page. Your address is also your username everywhere. You can read and write mail in webmail right away, or connect a mail app.
Mail apps (Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, phones)
Most apps set themselves up from your address and password. If yours asks for details:

Aliases
An alias is an extra address that delivers to your inbox. Create one in Settings: pick a name or let us make a random one, and add a note such as "bookshop". Turn an alias off to stop its mail without telling the sender anything.
Your own domain
On paid plans, add your domain in Settings. We show the exact DNS records to add at your domain registrar: one to prove you own the domain, then the mail records. Changes at registrars can take up to a few hours to show up.
Encryption at rest
Paste your OpenPGP public key in Settings to have new mail stored encrypted to it. Mail you already have is not changed. To read encrypted mail, use an app with your private key (for example Thunderbird). Keep your private key safe: without it, encrypted mail cannot be recovered — not even by us.
Billing
Upgrade under Billing. Card payments renew monthly; crypto payments prepay 1, 6 or 12 months. If a payment lapses, your account keeps all mail and falls back to Free limits after a grace period.
Your account
- Change password: Settings → Password. Your mail apps will ask for the new one.
- Forgot password: use Reset password. The link goes to the recovery address in your Settings; without one, a lost password cannot be recovered.
- Sending limit reached: the Free plan sends 20 messages a day; it resets daily. For their first 24 hours, new free accounts can only reply to, or write to, people who have emailed them; this keeps spammers out without getting in your way.
