In order to import your messages into Liverado, you need to enable IMAP access or set an app password to allow third-party applications to access your account.
This article describes how to prepare a Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Yandex, or GMX account before moving mail to Liverado.
Prepare your Gmail account
Enable IMAP access
To enable IMAP access, go to your Gmail settings (click the gear icon in the upper right corner) and access All settings.
Find the Forwarding and POP/IMAP section, go to IMAP access, select Enable IMAP and click Save changes.
Allow folder import
- In the Settings, go to the Labels section and manually select the folders by checking the boxes before Show in IMAP.
- Allow Liverado to access your Google account. It would help if you allowed Liverado to access your Gmail account (Liverado will only access your data for importing messages).
If two-step verification is disabled (default setting) in your Gmail account, please follow the steps below to open "Less secure app access":
Login your Google account and visit the Security section.
Type in Less secure app access in the search bar. After that, switch on Allow less secure app access.
You need to create an app password if two-step verification is enabled:
Go to your Google account and visit the Security section.
Find Sign in to Google section and enter into the App password section. Learn more
In the Select App drop-down menu, select mail.
In the Select Device drop-down menu, select the device you are using.
Generate your App password. Please remember the password because you need it during the import process.
Note: If you fail the authentication, please log out of all other Google accounts except the one you want to import from. Then, unlock the CAPTCHA in your Google account.
Prepare your Yahoo Mail
You need to create an App password if you use Yahoo mail:
Go to your Yahoo account, click your name in the upper right corner to open the Account information.
Go to the Account security section and select Generate an app password for mail based on the device you are using. Please remember the password because you need it during the import process.
Prepare your Outlook account
If two-step verification is enabled, you need to generate an App password. You also need to have a mobile Microsoft Authenticator app.
To generate your app password:
- Visit Security section and choose More security options. Outlook import settings
- In Additional security options, go to App password and choose Create a new app password.
- Outlook will automatically generate your password. Please remember the password because you need it during the import process.
Note: If you fail authentication, please go to the Security section and select the Sign-in activity. Then, you need to confirm that you are trying to access your Outlook account.
Prepare your GMX account
Please follow these steps:
In your GMX account, go to Settings and select POP3 and IMAP.
Then, check the box next to Send and receive emails via external programs, and click save.
Prepare your Yandex account
To allow import from Yandex, please follow these steps:
Login your Yandex account, select Settings (the gear icon), then select All settings.
Select the Email client.
Under Use mail client to retrieve your Yandex mail, check the box next to **From imap.yandex.com server via IMAP, save changes.
Next, you will need to create an App password:
In your Yandex account, choose Create app password.
Select mail, name your password and create your password. Please remember the password because you need it during the import process.
