Library Browser technology requirements

Liverado uses cookies, JavaScript, IndexedDB and other web technologies to achieve zero-access end-to-end encryption on your browser. Disabling any of these features may cause malfunctioning errors.

Why do you need to enable Cookies, Javascript and sessionStorage?

For security reasons, we recommend users allowing cookies, Javascript and sessionStorage. Liverado requires cookies to be enabled to store your current session information and log you into your account. In order to encrypt and decrypt in your web browser and correctly verify your identity, we need to encrypt/decrypt using JavaScript and save your private key locally using sessionStorage. Failure to enable these features may cause errors. Please refer to the content below to resolve these issues.

iOS Safari

Liverado uses cookies to achieve zero-access end-to-end encryption. Private browsing mode in Safari may interfere with the normal operation of Liverado. Users need to disable Private Browsing Mode and use regular browsing mode. Please follow the instructions:

  1. Open Safari on iPhone or iPad.

  2. Then tap  at bottom right corner.

  3. Click "Private" in the lower-left corner to turn on/off private browsing.

  4. As long as "Private Browsing" is enabled, the Safari address bar displays black instead of white.

Firefox

  1. In the address bar, type about:config, and press Enter.
  2. In the search bar under search preference name, type javascript.enabled.
  3. Double-click within the javascript.enabled row, switch the value from False to True.

Safari on Mac

  1. Select Safari at the top of the screen.
  2. In the dropdown menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Then click Security.
  4. Under "Web content", check the box in front of Enable JavaScript.

Internet Explorer

  1. On the web browser menu, click Tools icon which looks like a gear.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Choose the Security tab.
  4. Make sure to select the Internet zone(earth icon), then click on the Custom level... button.
  5. In Scripting section click Enable for Active Scripting.
  6. When the "Warning!" window opens and asks, "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?" select Yes.
  7. Click OK to close the dialogue.

  1. Start from the home screen, tap Settings app.
  2. On the Settings screen, scroll down and select the Safari.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, select Advanced.
  4. Switch on JavaScript.

Android

  1. Select Browser to open the web browser.
  2. Click Menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Choose Advanced.
  5. Select Enable JavaScript.

Enable sessionStorage

What is sessionStorage?

sessionStorage is a new network technology that allows you to store website information securely on your device. We use sessionStorage to store your password, which is used to decrypt all messages. If there is no sessionStorage, we need to ask for your password every time you read or send an email. Fortunately, this is not the case. Here is the list of browser supports for sessionStorage. Also, make sure Cookies are enabled in your browser.

Enable sessionStorage:

Chrome

Cookies and sessionStorage as the same thing on Chrome, so these steps work for both.

  1. Open Chrome, click the menu button at the top right corner.

  2. Choose Settings.

  3. Under "Privacy and security," click Cookies and other site date.

  4. Make sure to disable Block third-party cookies, Block all cookies(not recommended) and clear cookies and site when you quit Chrome. Learn more

Internet Explorer

  1. Click the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.
  2. Click on the tab Advanced.
  3. Check the box Enable DOM Storage.
  4. Click OK.

Firefox

  1. In the address bar, type about:config, and press Enter.
  2. In the search bar under "seach pfreference name", type dom.storage.enabled.
  3. Double-click within the dom.storage.enabled row, switch the value from False to True.
  4. Refresh the browser.

iOS Safari

Private Browsing in Safari can interfere with the proper operation of Liverado. Users need to disable private browsing mode and use regular browsing mode. Please follow the instructions:

  1. Open Safari on iPhone or iPad.

  2. Then tap  at bottom right corner.

  3. Tap Private at the lower-left corner to turn on/off private browsing.

  4. Whenever Private Browsing is on, the Safari address bar appears black instead of white.
